Outdoor Education, is learning that is based off of experiences that students can have out of the classroom. It is where the teacher focuses on what students can do, rather what they need to have in order to complete learning. It is experiences rather than equipment that places the child at the centre of learning.
Indigenous Learning focuses on the traditional teaching of Indigenous knowledge, models, methods and content. It is important to ensure that AUTHENTIC Indigenous Voices are heard and respected. Students can learn through the First Peoples' Principles of Learning through an authentic perspective and experience. |
PARENT ENGAGEMENT
When parents are our students' first teachers, having a collaborative relationship/ communication with them is essential. |
THE ENVIRONMENT
How does the environment of our classrooms help learning? How do they promote inquiry and oral language development? How does our classroom promote diversity? |
HANDS ON EXPLORATIONLearning through PlayBy integrating learning, a teacher is bringing together diverse areas of the curriculum. It allows students to understand the meaning behind their learning, and be motivated to participate. When Co-Constructing Learning, teachers are meeting their students at the developmentally appropriate level, helping them to make sense of their world.
